据叁陆零教育集团旗下新西兰教育联盟新闻发言人金立威表示：新西兰的高等教育机构包括大学、理工学院和教育学院。新西兰共有8所公立大学，这些大学开办一系列的标准学位课程，其中包括理科、文科和近年来兴起的商科和信息科学，经过新西兰教育联盟三年多的努力，得到新西兰各大高校强烈支持，新西兰教育联盟承诺办理新西兰所有中国政府认证的大学和学院零中介费。
新西兰的理工学院目前共有18所，提供各种职业及技术培训，包括短期课程和三年制、四年制的专业学位、文凭、证书课程。部分理工学院和大学可以互相转换学分(例如商科)，学生在理工学院所修某些课程学分为大学所承认，其毕业后入读大学可以免修有关课程。
新西兰大学的学位由新西兰大学校长委员会下设的学术委员会批准，而理工学院及极少数私立高等教育学校所授的文凭由新西兰资格认证局(NZQA)负责审批和监督。
